Postseason Tournament Recap: Great Lakes Developmental CCs

After an intense season of becoming big, buff, and burly and learning handler resets, the Bolt boys packed our bags for beautiful Rantoul, Illinois to face off in the Great Lakes Developmental College Conference Championships. Although we drove to the tournament expecting thunderstorms and 20 mph winds, we ended up having a warm, breezy Saturday. On the first day of the tournament we were able to go undefeated against Notre Dame (B), Illinois (C), Illinois (B), Chicago (B), and Michigan State (B). Saturday was Bolt’s best performance of the year, a comeback win on universe point, a break train long enough to stop our O line from playing for more than an hour, and twitter fingers from Jim & Kenny. On Sunday, mother nature was not nearly as kind. There was intense rain, and the fields were so muddy that we didn’t see grass for the entire day. The writer of this recap almost lost Bolt a game by going upline and back but falling instead. We started the day hot by beating Kentucky (B) on universe. Unfortunately, Illinois (B) corrected their mistakes from Saturday by watching a ton of Bolt film and ended our dreams of going to regionals. We went on to beat Notre Dame (B) and break seed to finish third at the tournament! We were able to drive back to Evanston satisfied by a season of tremendous growth in our throwing, defense, and tweets.
