Ben Spielman has had a meteoric rise on NUT over his first two years with the team. Although he was almost cut as a freshman after struggling to do a pull up, his swaggy play quickly made him a fan favorite. Shouts of SPIELMAN became all too common as he routinely dunked on fools across the Great Lakes Region. Although he initially started as a pure athlete for the program in his second year on NUT he began taking on thrower responsibilities, putting up big backhands punishing defenders that gave him easy unders. One of his most memorable moments of the 2014/2015 season was when the reserved sophomore exploded after a terrible call by NC State at Easterns. He proceeded to put the team on his back carrying NUT to a 15-5 win.
Spielman’s talents are not limited to just the ultimate field he is also widely regarded for his Spikeball and pong skills. His presence is felt throughout the northwestern community most recently being featured on NU Bananas. He has also recently appeared on NU Crushes and I quote “Ben Spielman, Goddamn boy. You’re hot as fuck.” He is also known for his distinctive dance moves and his affinity for a certain tall freshmen. An all around good guy we are lucky to have Old Man Spielman around at least until his projected retirement in 2017.
