When you hear a shriek of “King Juliaaaan” from 3 fields over at a tournament, it probably isn’t a rescreening of the American cinema classic, Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted, at an adjacent park, but rather Jordi celebrating Julian Baldwin skying the living daylights out of an unassuming defender before being quickly whisked off the field and back to campus so he can make it to his peer tutoring session in the nick of time, still bathed in his own sweat and the glory of countless scores across the weekend.
King Julian rules his domain with the mantra of “speak softly and always wear zebra print pants to practice,” blurring the lines between the runway for his leaps and for Northwestern fashion week. His background is hard to pin down until you hear he’s been playing frisbee since middle school, at which point you begin to draw wafts of Starbucks and Pike Place market, his Seattle stomping grounds slowly revealed. Here at NUT, we admire Julian’s dedication — to fashion, frisbee, and fostering the education of the next generation of bright Northwestern minds.
